Main System Composition of Automatic Autoclave

Automatic autoclave ( also called composite autoclave) is used for metal/non-metal adhesive components and resin based high strength glass fiber, carbon fiber, boron fiber, arylon fiber and other composite materials, such as aircraft doors, fairing, airborne radome, bracket, wing, tail, etc. The automatic autoclave is a set of system equipment, it can realize the sequential and real-time control of process parameters such as temperature, pressure, vacuum, cooling and circulation.

Main Subsystems of Automatic Autoclave

• Tank Body: High pressure and high temperature, with tank body, tank door mechanism, high temperature motor, wind tunnel plate thermal insulation layer, etc.
• Safety Interlock Device: High – voltage automatic interlock, manual interlock, high – voltage alarm device.
• Quick Opening Device: Manual and electric dual-purpose quick opening design, it can normally open and close the tank door in case of power failure.
• Tank Door Sealing Device: Tank door using silicone inflatable sealing, high pressure 400℃, no wear.
• Pressure System: Pressure transmission and control system, with compressor, gas storage tank, pressure control valve, pipeline, pressure transmitter and pressure gauge.
• Heating System: In the automatic autoclave forming process, the far infrared quartz electric heat pipe as the heating source, the fluid medium (generally air under low temperature condition, inert gas under high temperature condition) as the heat transfer carrier, and the fan as the forced gas circulation power to complete the process of the circular heating of the molding tool. In the cooling stage, the cooling process of the tooling is realized by circulating water to remove heat.
• Temperature Circulating System: With circulating fan, air guide plate and guide cover to accelerate heat conduction and circulation, forming uniform temperature field.
• Vacuum System: It consists of vacuum pump, pipeline, vacuum meter and vacuum valve, providing vacuum conditions for encapsulated composite prefabricated parts.
• Automatic Control System of Automatic Autoclave: It adopt Siemens PLC control system, to realize the pressure, temperature, cooling and other process parameters of the full precision control and real-time recording.

Features of Large Scale Autoclave

1. Unique heating system

A heater consisting of a multi-layer heating tube with fins is arranged at the inlet end of the centrifugal fan to ensure sufficient heat exchange between the circulating gas and the heater, which has a good heat exchange effect and high utilization of heat energy.

2. Atomized water precooling

When pre-cooling, the compressed air atomizes the cooling water. Under the action of compressed gas, the atomized water can enter the pipes of the large scale autoclave cooler uniformly like a gas, so that the cooling rate of each part of the cooler is uniform, so that the thermal shock of the cooler drainage is small, and the thermal deformation is small, and High-precision control of the cooling rate of the large scale autoclave.

3. Specialized cooling system

The sealing ring material used by the STRENGTH Equipments can withstand the high temperature of 200 °C. Horizontal Composite Autoclave Installed and Run In Xi’an

Horizontal Composite Autoclave, also called industrial autoclave for
composite material or carbon fiber autoclave, can be used as key 
equipment for hot-press curing of metal or non-metallic bonding 
components and resin-based high-strength glass fiber, carbon fiber, 
boron fiber, aramid fiber and epoxy resin composites. The horizontal 
composite autoclave can be used to pump composite materials. In the 
case of vacuum, it can absorb, heat and pressurize and solidifies. There 
are mainly three kinds of horizontal composite autoclave such as  scientific 
research experimental autoclave, civil autoclave and military autoclave. 
The composite autoclave was installed and commissioned on site in April 
2018. The average temperature was even and the door was opened flexibly.

Horizontal Composite Autoclave mainly contains 

the following sub systems

1. Control system of Horizontal Composite Autoclave: adopts Siemens PLC computer 

automatic control to achieve full-range high-precision control and real-time

recording of pressure, temperature, cooling and other process parameters. 

The gas-electric interlocking device ensures that the tank door can be closed 

before it can be boosted, and the pressure inside the tank can be discharged，

is completed, the door can only open in line with TSG 21-2016 stationary 

pressure vessel safety supervision and ASME pressure vessel on quick safety 

interlock requirements.

2. Heating system of Horizontal Composite Autoclave: stainless steel heating 
pipe, high temperature water cooling fan, duct plate, insulation layer, temperature 
control system, heating power to meet the maximum temperature requirements 
and the heating rate requirements in the tank, heating power group control, to 
achieve different heating rate.
3. Cooling system of Horizontal Composite Autoclave: It is mainly composed of 
three stages: pre-cooling, main cooling and fan cooling. Since the autoclave is 
in high temperature during the working process, it is first cooled after entering 
the cooling stage to avoid heat and cold of the cooling pipes. Uneven stress, 
thereby extending the life of the cooler. After the pre-cooling period is over, the 
temperature of the autoclave tank is far from the tank temperature requirement, 
and a further main cooling process is required. The cooling of the autoclave tank 
is mainly completed at this stage. The function of the fan in the autoclave tank is 
to evenly distribute the hot air generated by the heater to the entire tank body, 
so that the tank body is in a constant temperature state during the whole operation 
process. During the operation of the fan, the heat generated by the motor needs 
to pass through the circulating water belt. In order to ensure the normal operation 
of the fan, fan cooling water must be supplied throughout the production process.
4. Vacuum system of Horizontal Composite Autoclave: It consists of vacuum pump, 
pipeline, vacuum gauge and vacuum valve. It provides vacuum conditions for the 
prefabricated parts of the package. The number of vacuum channels is 16 and the 
sample is separated.
