6 Stages of Composites Autoclave Curing Process

What are the stages of the composites autoclave curing process? The following describes 6 stages of composites autoclave curing process and the technical points of each stage.
1. Heating stage of composites autoclave. Choosing a reasonable heating rate is the first step. For large composite parts, the heating should be slow so that the whole part is evenly heated, 2℃/min is the commonly used heating rate. This stage mainly uses the vacuum pressure which depends on the curing situation.
2. Adhesive stage of composites autoclave. In fact, it is an intermediate insulation stage which holds different temperature and time for different resin substrates. The main purpose of this stage is to melt the resin, impregnate the fiber, remove volatiles, and gradually solidify the resin into a gel state. The molding pressure at this stage is 1/3~1/2 of the total pressure, part of the resin is discharged to ensure that the final resin content of the parts meets the design requirements.
3. Continuous heating stage of composites autoclave. After the stage of adhesive absorption, the resin matrix has been semi-cured, solvent and low molecular weight volatiles are fully discharged, the curing temperature sublimates to the designated degrees and keep a certain while. The curing reaction of thermosetting resin is the exothermic reaction. During the curing process, heat is released. If the composites autoclave temperature rises too fast, the curing reaction speed will be accelerated rapidly, a large amount of heat is released and will lead to the local burning of the material, this phenomenon is called detonation and must be avoided.

4. Thermal insulation and pressure stage. At this stage, the resin curing temperature is preset, resin matrix need to be further curing, this stage to add full pressure, the purpose is to make the resin in the process of continued curing between the layers of sufficient compaction. From the total pressure to the end of the whole hot press is known as the hot press stage. The time from reaching the specified of composites autoclave curing process, hot pressing temperature to the end of hot pressing is called constant temperature time. The temperature, pressure and constant temperature time in the hot pressing stage are important technological parameters in the molding process, which must be strictly controlled according to the formula of the resin matrix used.
5. Cooling Stage. Under certain pressure retention conditions, natural cooling or forced cooling should carry out to a certain temperature or room temperature, and then pressure is released before taking out the product.  It will be easy to make the product warping, cracking and other phenomena if the cooling time is too short. If the cooling time is too long,  it will make the production cycle longer and will not help to the product quality.

6. The final stage is also known as the processing stage. The high temperature is used to cure parts, the temperature should be cool down slowly and to keep the low temperature for a period of time, so the internal stress of the finished parts can eliminated which is caused by the high temperature, and the deformation of parts after unloading can be ideally prevented.

Constituent Parts of Autoclave for Carbon Fiber

  1. Overall structure: By the tank body, tank door mechanism, high temperature motor, wind channel board insulation layer and so on constitute a high pressure, high temperature tank body.
  2. Safe interlock installation: It consists of automatic pressure interlock, manual interlock and ultra-high voltage alarm installation.
  3. Quick door installation: manual electric dual-purpose quick door design, can be normally opened and closed in case of power failure.
  4. Sealing installation: the tank door adopts silicone inflatable seal, resistant to high pressure.
  5. Pressure system: the pressure transmission and control system is composed of compressor, gas storage tank, pressure control valve, pipeline, pressure transmitter and pressure gauge, etc. The pressure inside the tank can reach 1.5-2.5mpa, the error is no more than 0.05mpa, with safe and explosion-proof installation.
  6. Heating system: it is composed of stainless steel electric heat pipe, high temperature fan, duct board, heat insulation layer and temperature control system. The heating power meets the requirements of the highest temperature of the cavity and the heating rate.
  7. Temperature circulation system: it is composed of circulating fan, air guide plate and air guide cover to accelerate heat transmission and circulation, forming an average temperature field.
  8. Vacuum system: it is composed of vacuum pump, pipeline, vacuum gauge and vacuum valve to provide vacuum conditions for the encapsulated composite data prefabricated parts. Multiple vacuum tube joints are required to meet the requirements of the molding process.
  9. Automatic control system: PLC control system is adopted to complete the whole process of high-precision control and real-time recording of pressure, temperature, cooling and other technological parameters.

During this time, I keep communicating with customer for these parts.I asked them what does they used for .and he tells me that these two parts will be used for Activation Dryer vessel, at same time customer send us the whole drawing for the vessel. Our engineer check the drawing of Activation Dryer vessel based on the drawing requirement, our engineer give us our products design, manufacture plan ,the customer very happy with our program after receiving all our data. Working Principle of the Autoclave AAC

In the production process, the working principle of the autoclave AAC is mainly the maintenance inside, including three stages of heating, constant temperature and cooling. The advantages of various performances of the aerated concrete block mainly depend on the temperature of the curing temperature (pressure). And the length of the maintenance time. The temperature (pressure) is high, the reaction is sufficient, and the performance is good. Features of Brick Autoclave

There must be a suitable heat carrier, that is, a saturated steam with a certain pressure. The brick autoclave generally uses saturated steam with a gauge pressure greater than 0.8 mpa, which may be silica in fly ash quickly with quicklime. The active calcium oxide reacts to form the desired hydrated calcium silicate gel to bond the fly ash particles to obtain the concrete aerated block equipment block of the desired strength. The autoclave curing system should be determined according to the quality of the raw materials used, the size of the steam pressure, and the required strength of the product. Excessive or too short autoclave curing time is unfavorable for the production of fly ash autoclaved block bricks.

Structure of Autoclave AAC

  1. Device of autoclave AAC body: It is mainly welded by the shell and the autoclave AAC body flange. A total of 36 teeth are distributed along the circumference of the flange to engage the corresponding 36 teeth uniformly distributed on the lid of the kettle. A track is placed at the bottom of the autoclave AAC to walk or park the steamed trolley. Various tube seats and nozzles are arranged on the outside of the autoclave AAC, steam is supplied and discharged, condensed water is discharged, and various instruments and valves are installed.
  2. Device of the door: It is mainly welded by the flange of the door, the tooth plate and the dished head. The door is suspended by the hanging handle and the short shaft to close the autoclave.
  3. Swing device: It is mainly composed of shaft, cantilever beam, support plate, tie rod and etc. Installed on the top of the autoclave AAC, connected to the lid of the autoclave AACby a tie rod, which functions as a suspension and rotary autoclave AAC.
  4. Hand crank reducer: Fixed on the side of the flange of autoclave AAC, it is mainly composed of a pair of turbines and a pair of bevel gear shafts. The toothed plate is engaged by the gear to drive the lid to rotate around the center, so that the teeth of the body and the lid flange can be engaged or disengaged.
  5. Safety interlock device: fixed on the side of the flange of it, consisting of safety handle, seat, post and ball valve. When the lid is closed, the safety handle is turned to the level so that the lid cannot be opened and the exhaust ball valve is closed accordingly. When opening the cover, first place the safety handle vertically and the ball valve will open.
  6. Support: used to support the AAC autoclave, consisting of the intermediate support and the end support. Except for the intermediate support, the other supports can be moved along the axial direction of the AAC autoclaveby means of rollers.
  7. Insulation: It is mainly composed of insulation material, skeleton and guard plate to prevent heat loss during use of AAC.
